Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen City
The Grampian region, named after the magnificent Grampian Mountains, covers miles of some of the most beautiful scenery in Scotland, from the wild tundra of the high mountaintops to the seclusion of the ancient pinewoods the perfect place to put a log cabin. Heather and moor, vivid with summer colour, and grand glens, haunt of red deer and golden eagle, are part of the stunning habitats within the Cairngorms National Park. There are over fifteen caravan parks in this area, offering the perfect base to explore the county’s wilderness of opportunity. The Grampian Mountains, which in winter offer static caravan owners superb skiing facilities, meet the sea at Stonehaven, which has the impressive Dunnottar Castle where Zeffirelli's Hamlet starring Mel Gibson was shot. The Grampian area is famous for its beef and the Aberdeen Angus breed of cattle, its spectacular castles, the River Spey with its famous whisky distilleries (Grampian has plenty of distilleries to visit on "The Whisky Trail") and the royal residence on the River Dee near Braemar - Balmoral castle . The town of Braemar hosts the Highland Games held every August which are usually attended by the Royal Family and stars of stage and screen – an opportunity for excitement for those on mobile home holidays in the area. Mobile home holidaymakers looking for something for the kids should visit Storybook Glen, Macduff Marine Aquarium and the Stonehaven Open Air Swimming Pool.
Aberdeen City itself has about ten caravan parks, and is situated where the River Don and the River Dee run into the North. Old Aberdeen boasts history and heritage in the houses and buildings, such as the University of Aberdeen. For those mobile home tourists that enjoy the more active holiday, then a visit to the Beach Leisure Centre is a must, as the centre is home to a great fun pool with slides, a gym, climbing wall, health suite and also a multi sports centre. Neighbouring the centre is an ice rink offering fun for everyone. Static caravan owners can take a more relaxing day out to one of the biggest enclosed gardens in Europe, Duthie Park, a gardener’s heaven through out the whole year, with an array of unusual plant life from around the globe.
