Avon and Bristol
In the south west of England, Avon is one of the smallest British counties, but because of its rich wealth of tourist attractions, the county still has about 30 caravan parks, and is a great location for a log cabin. The county of Avon is named after the River Avon – also known as the Bristol Avon as there are other rivers with the same name in England. The main attractions in Avon are the centres of Bristol city and seaside resort Weston-super-Mare.Bristol has always been an adventurous city in search of new horizons. In bygone times, explorers and merchant adventurers set off on epic journeys from its harbour. The navigator John Cabot and his son Sebastian, who discovered the islands of Newfoundland and Nova Scotia, hail from Bristol. Nowadays, the city’s spirit of boldness and creativity expresses itself in art, architecture and an enviable quality of life, with a vibrant culture and exciting entertainment programme. On a typical day in Bristol static caravan tourists can take in cool cafes and gorgeous Georgian terraces, waterfront arts centres and monuments to the city’s rich maritime heritage, as well as green spaces and great shopping. All this is set against a truly classic view – the River Avon and its dramatic gorge reaching almost into the heart of the city.
At Weston-super-Mare, traditional seaside attractions and beautiful countryside draw many static caravan tourists, with the safe sandy beach stretching for miles. Mobile home holidaymakers can relax and soak up the sun or take a leisurely walk along the promenade. During the evening, mobile home gourmets can sample dishes from every corner of the world.
