Ceredigion
On the central coast of Wales, Ceredigion has over sixty caravan parks in place for mobile home holidaymakers to relax in while they enjoy this county’s wide variety of exciting locations and activities.Ceredigion is widely known as a paradise for gardeners. A must-go for static caravan or log cabin owners that love gardening – and even those that don’t – is Cilgwyn Gardens. This 14 acre assorted garden is tucked away in 900 acres of what was previously parkland, hosting an array of beautiful flowers including rhododendrons and spring bulbs, mixed with decorative ponds and a rare three-way bridge. Cilgwyn Gardens is also the setting of the last battle to have been fought in Wales. Another must go place for gardeners is Llanerchaeron, whose country house dates back to the late eighteenth century. On site is a large variety of farm and other horticultural buildings, mostly from around the nineteenth century. The house also includes two walled peaceful gardens, tropical greenhouses and tranquil woodland alongside a picturesque lake.
Hafod Uchtryd, twelve miles south-east of Aberystwyth, is recognised as one of the finest examples in Europe of a ‘Picturesque’ landscape. Its most celebrated owner, Thomas Johnes (1748-1816), built a new house in this remote location and laid out its grounds in a manner suited to displaying its natural beauties in sympathy with the ‘Picturesque principles’ fashionable at the time, with circuit walks allowing the visitor to enjoy a succession of views and experiences. Johnes also used the land for farming, forestry, and gardening, in each case trying out new ideas and experimental methods. Hafod became an essential destination for the early tourist in Wales. The amazing Devil’s Bridge is an impressive piece of architecture, also definitely worth a look for static caravan tourists. Local activities for the zealous mobile home holidaymaker include fishing, cycling and pony trekking in the Cambrian Mountains, making Ceredigion the perfect place to base your static caravan and take advantage of close access to your hobbies.
