Falkirk

Falkirk area is centrally placed in Scotland and very accessible. No area is better situated for equally easy access to Edinburgh, Glasgow and the scenic Highlands of Scotland. A handful of caravan parks provide access for static caravan owners to explore Falkirk’s unique history, fun and excitement suitable for the whole family to enjoy. As many as 80 000 men were involved in the first battle of Falkirk in 1298, with the Scots rallying to freedom fighter William Wallace (the hero of Mel Gibson’s film ‘Braveheart’) in their first attempt to obtain independence; the English being led north by King Edward I. Mel Gibson was further inspired by Falkirk Castle, in which he set his film version of ‘Hamlet’. Callendar House is a grand mansion, situated amongst glorious terrains for scenic strolls. Also worth a visit is the historic ruin of the Roman Antonine wall, which dates back to as early as the second century, with the best conserved remains found in Kinneil Estate, close to the delightful Kinneil Steam Railway.
