Flintshire

Flintshire, on north-east Welsh border, is less than one hour from Manchester International Airport, and has over twenty caravan sites to house the area’s many static caravan visitors. The glorious county Flintshire has a large assortment of attractions bursting with history. Flintshire was founded around 1284, seven years after King Edward I ordered work to begin on Flint Castle. The castle, formerly the site of bloody battles between the Celts and Romans, British and Saxons, Welsh and Normans, overlooks the estuary of the River Dee. The remainders of the castle are undeniably a valuable and enjoyable day out for families on static caravan holidays.
Another interesting attraction is Holywell, located mid-way between the A55 expressway and A548 coastal route into North Wales and less than five minutes from both, home to the world famous St. Winefride's Holy Well - one of the seven ‘Wonders of Wales’. Flintshire is home to many country markets, including the renowned Connah’s Quay Market, where mobile home holidaymakers are warmly welcomed. Daniel Owen (1836-1895), the first and most prominent novelist in the Welsh Language, was a native of Flintshire.
