Glamorgan

Glamorgan is a coastal county in South Wales and is home to several caravan parks.
The Gower Peninsula of west Glamorgan is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with 160 square miles of unspoilt beaches and magnificent coastline. The mid-Glamorgan area is a great place for a family mobile home or log cabin holiday with miles of golden sandy beaches for children and parents to enjoy. Static caravan owners can surf, swim and fish on the Heritage Coast, walk in the footsteps of the Marcher Lords through the Wye Valley and in the foothills of the highest mountain in the south of Britain, and explore the coal mining valleys of the Brecon Beacons. The mines of the South Wales Valleys once supplied millions of tons of coal and iron and many miner's cottages are still dotted around the hillsides. There are miles of breathtaking mountain scenery and country parks waiting to be explored, containing ancient castles and picture-postcard villages, with something new and exciting for static caravan tourists to do every day. In 1978 excavations were undertaken by the Glamorgan-Gwent Archaeological Trust on a site known as "Castle Field". This and future work revealed not only the collapsed walls of the manor house, but the remains of a community over 600 years old. Since the mid 1980s archaeologists and the local authority have worked together to reconstruct the remains of Cosmeston village to create an authentic, entertaining view of an Anglo-Welsh 14th century community, fascinating for visiting mobile home holidaymakers.
