Lincolnshire
Lincolnshire is a vast county in the east of England between Anglia and Yorkshire, with over 100 caravan parks. Mobile home and log cabin holidaymakers will love exploring the towns and villages of Lincolnshire's cobbled streets and stone-built houses with their red-tiled roofs. Lincolnshire was one of the areas most influenced by the Danes and the Vikings in post-Roman Britain, and the Viking Way is a 140 mile trail running from the Humber Bridge through the Wolds to Oakham in Leicestershire, perfect for static caravan tourists wanting to explore the country’s rich ancient heritage. Lincolnshire is a flat county, so for mobile home owners that love cycling or are looking to get fit out in the fresh country air whilst on holiday, Lincolnshire is easy to get around by bicycle, unspoilt by the hustle and bustle of much of the rest of England. For nature lovers, the county has an impressive array of wildlife amongst beautiful countryside, in the low rolling hills, estuary and the fertile wetlands in the Lincolnshire Fens. The popular resort of Skegness has miles of golden beaches for static caravan tourists looking to relax in the sun and go swimming. The most popular tourist destination in Lincolnshire is the historic county city of Lincoln itself with the magnificent 900 year old Lincoln Cathedral (complete with the famous "Lincoln Imp") and Lincoln Castle. Boston, with the tower of St Botolph's church visible for miles around, is also a fascinating place for mobile home holidaymakers to visit, as it is the place that the Pilgrim Fathers sailed from to the New World in 1607.
Famous sons and daughters of Lincolnshire include the former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher (from Grantham), Sir Isaac Newton, the famous seventeenth century scientist and discoverer of the laws of gravity, and William Byrd, the foremost composer of the Elizabethan age.
