Northamptonshire
Northamptonshire is in the South Midlands area of England and has a handful of caravan parks where mobile home holidaymakers can explore this fascinating county.The main physical feature of Northamptonshire is the river Nene, with many wonderful swimming and fishing spots. The county has a fascinating past and contains many historic houses – to the north is Rockingham Castle, built by William the Conqueror, and in the south other treasures include Sulgrave Manor and Althorp (correctly pronounced ‘Altrup’) House, the family home and now shrine for Princess Diana. The oddly shaped Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Northampton is one of the best-preserved Norman round churches in the country.
Also of interest for families on static caravan holidays in Northamptonshire are the excellent Stoke Bruerne Canal Museum, and Silverstone, Britain’s most important motor racing circuit and one of the fastest in Europe. Northampton town holds its own ‘Highland Games’ each year – fantastic fun for the whole family.
