Powys

Powys is Wales’ largest county, with over 70 caravan parks to choose from. Most visitors head for the Brecon Beacons National Park which covers over 500 square miles of grass-topped mountain peaks. Pen-y-Fan is the highest point in southern Britain at almost 3000 feet and the mountains have a quiet beauty; rolling like huge green waves over the countryside. To the south there are a number of impressive waterfalls, the most attractive being Sgwd-yr-eira (the spout of snow). This area would be a fantastic place to site your log cabin.
The county’s main tourist attractions other than the Brecon Beacons are Powis Castle, and the Machynlleth Centre for Alternative Technology. For mobile home owners that love to walk, the 120 mile Glyndwr’s Way takes the visitor through some beautiful Powys countryside following in the footsteps of the Welsh Prince and hero Owain Glyndwr. For static caravan holidaymakers that love cycling, the Welsh National Cycle Route runs through the Brecon Beacons National Park along the quieter roads and pony trekking is available. Llanfihangel is home to the “oldest pub in Wales” – the Skirrid Mountain Inn, which was a courthouse for 500 years where, gruesomely, 200 prisoners were hanged.
