South Yorkshire

With only a handful of caravan parks, South Yorkshire may not be a traditional tourist destination like the other Yorkshire Counties, but it certainly holds a charm all its own. The heavily industrialised landscapes of South Yorkshire became familiar to millions with the release of the film “The Full Monty”, but there is more to the county than industry. South Yorkshire is bounded by the Pennines to the west and Yorkshire Dales and North Yorkshire Moors to the north. The old industrial powerhouses - Sheffield, Rotherham and Barnsley - are set amongst rolling green hills. Mobile home holidaymakers will find these regions wonderful for exploring on foot or by bicycle, in wonderful fresh country air. The Yorkshire Wolds stretch away eastwards towards East Yorkshire (or Humberside, as it was once known). Sheffield, the regions main centre built its reputation on the production of high quality steel and cutlery. Now this gritty industrial city is transforming itself into a centre for commerce and the cultural industries, and static caravan tourists can browse and enjoy a range of local and international shops side by side.
