Mobile Home

Mobile homes are also known as static caravans.
There is a difference between mobile homes and touring caravans. A touring caravan is more similar to the traditional idea of caravans, because touring caravans are designed to be towed from place to place by a car or truck. Mobile homes are larger and designed to stay in one location for longer periods of time, and are transported using a low-loader.
Legally speaking, the maximum size of a mobile home is 60 feet long by 20 feet wide, with a maximum height of 10 feet inside. These measurements do not include the draw-bar, or any easily removable extensions, but do include permanent porches or extensions. However mobile homes usually range in size from 28x10ft to as large as 40x20ft. Mobile homes have all the comforts of the modern home, with optimised space, multiple bedrooms, fully fitted kitchens, gas, central heating and double-glazing if required.
Mobile homes can be used for many purposes. If you are involved in a renovation or self build project (building your own house), a mobile home makes a perfect temporary home. There are many advantages to living in a mobile home whilst involved in a self build project – economically, purchasing a mobile home is often cheaper than renting, and leaves you with an asset to sell on when you move into your permanent home. Living on site means that you can keep your eye on the project as it develops.
Mobile homes make an ideal holiday home on your own land or in a park. They are also perfect for staff accommodation in areas such as fruit-picking industries, and make great temporary office accommodation. A mobile home could also be a good place to start if you are looking to invest in your first home.
